What is validation?
The wordly definition of validation is the act of affirming a person or their ideas, feelings ,actions, etc as acceptable and worthy (Dictionary.com).
My Experience with Validation.
Growing up I put my validation in others. How they affirmed me through their ideas, feelings, and actions would fuel me and give me a sense of belonging because I would feel accepted and worthy or their love. The more I did this I would be left disappointed or searching for acceptance. When you seek the validation of others you have to be ready for what they do and do not approve of. I was left disappointed when those that I cared about did not believe in me as I thought or saw me to be valuable as I was hoping for. If I did not get approval on a particular area of my life I would not try anything new or embrace my endeavors or myself because I leaned upon others ideas to confirm that I was doing the right thing or good person. It was not until later in life that I learned that validation should only come from God. I had a bad habit of thinking about what others would say versus being solely concerned on what God said. People were my go to or main resource to feel seen or loved. I unfortunately would not trust what God said about me. It was hard to believe in what He said concerning me. This was because I felt distant from God and because people were more present or readily available I wanted a quick answer or affirmation.
How did I start leaning more towards Gods validation?
In order to become more concerned about what God said about me it took practice and being intentional in reading His word. The word of God speaks about how God loves His children and what we inherit. In order to know what you inherit you have to read His word. As part of my life coaching I will always share that knowing your identity in Christ is the foundation of your purpose and learning who you are. This will help you to have confidence and clarity in your life. Some things that we inherit are righteousness, peace, healing, eternal life, and freedom are just a few of the spiritual blessings that we receive.
We don’t have to work for God's love because we are in sonship. To fully experience what you inherit you first have to accept God as a Father and His son as your Lord and Savior . We all come from different backgrounds and experiences learning God as a Father will come differently for each of us, but we still have to pray and seek God on who He is and what we mean to Him. No matter what don’t give up on God.
